Lost in a rush

Bad cook! Good cook!

October 29, 2007 · No Comments

I am a lousy cook. I cant cook other than noodles over the last 4 years. Picture this, I cant take dosa out of the tava neatly. My roomies know either i get them scrambled dosas or dosa brownies (they were not good cooks either…). So i never went back to kitchen for months. Now I had to enter the santum-sanctorium since last week. Guess what.

Boom! things were falling right in its places. Dosas come out neatly, sambars were fantastic ( i tried idly sambar, ordinary sambar). Fried rice was amazing. (He he, I know its not my talent but my luck. )

Hope my luck continues.

Durga Pooja

October 21, 2007 · No Comments

The festival season has started…Durga Pooja last day celebrations are here. So i had to pay a visit with my Baangali friends. This whole thing is new to me. It was pretty different.

All Baangalis were there. (O yeah what should I expect in Durga poojo ..thats how they say). We alreDurga Poojaady started going rounds before we could enter the temple. Bcos of parking problem all cards were forced to park in bike lane. It seems its customary to donate some money to gods hundi and SJC PDs coffer. You have to get 2 tickets - one poojo ticket and another parking fine ticket.

Then we said hello to god, chanted some slokas in Baangali  and had prashad and preet bhoj (i would call full meals). Atmosphere was like family reunion rather than the usual pray-to-god-fearfully-and-get-out feeling in south india.

New header!

October 19, 2007 · No Comments

Took the header snap in Embarcedero BART station last weekend. It fitted my blog title to ‘T’.

Speaking of BART, it was very similar to Delhi Metro (or is it the other way around?), except its very dull and boring. No hawkers, no on-board-musicians just white-collared people minding their own business. Not even chit chat.

Okka makka portuguese!

October 19, 2007 · No Comments

I had to deal with Portuguese in my project. I wasted hours in trying to figure out why a particular query wasnt working. Finally I figured out even the dates are in portuguese. Instead of 11-DEC-2006 it was 11-DEK-2006.

Who would have thought of that.! I never came across a தமிழ்  டெட்டபேஸ் or हिन्दी डाटाबेस in India, why these fellows are having Portuguese db.

eNGO.org

November 3, 2006 · No Comments

There are lot of non governmental organisations (NGO) working for different purpose. Generating funds is a big task. The following would help all NGOs to collect donations from the small internet savvy group.
eNGO - what does it do. Its is just a web marketing platform for NGOs. A donor goes to www.eNGO.org. Selects the NGO according to his area of interest. Goes over NGO work . Makes a donation online by web banking gateway system directly to that particular NGO account. www.eNGO.org issues an online receipt and a tax saving certificate is mailed to his address by the concerned NGO. This way all little known NGOs also get a footprint at the internet.

Vinayagar Chaturthi

August 27, 2006 · No Comments

Its vinayagar chaturthi today. Not sure if its His birthday or day to mark His Almighty. So being a tech-savvy IT guy, downloaded Vinayagar Agaval from the net and played it on. At spur of the moment decided to cook myself. After the pooja we(Praveen woke up by then) decided on mushroom-masala and MTR dosas. Mushroom masala lacked salt. Praveen had tough time in getting dosa from the pan :). Thank God my dosas came with golden-brown and Praveen’s face turned pink.:D

Buddha or bugger?

Your EQ is 160
50 or less: Thanks for answering honestly. Now get yourself a shrink, quick!
51-70: When it comes to understanding human emotions, you’d have better luck understanding Chinese.
71-90: You’ve got more emotional intelligence than the average frat boy. Barely.
91-110: You’re average. It’s easy to predict how you’ll react to things. But anyone could have guessed that.
111-130: You usually have it going on emotionally, but roadblocks tend to land you on your butt.
131-150: You are remarkable when it comes to relating with others. Only the biggest losers get under your skin.
150+: Two possibilities - you’ve either out “Dr. Phil-ed” Dr. Phil… or you’re a dirty liar.

What’s Your EQ (Emotional Intelligence Quotient)?

Taxes! taxes and more taxes

July 27, 2006 · No Comments

Not sure why salaried class is always targeted for taxes. Prof. taxes are now raised from 2500 to 7500.

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1779260.cms
“IMES NEWS NETWORK[ THURSDAY, JULY 20, 2006 12:00:00 AM]
NEW DELHI: All income earners, including the salaried and the self-employed, will soon have to fork out more tax. The Centre has finally relented on the long-standing demand from states to enhance the ceiling for tax on professions from the current level of Rs 2,500 to Rs 7,500 per year.”

Mr FM,

Please put two more categories - Politicians taxes and Terrorists taxes - they are more in India and can bring more revenue.

Thanks
